Variations On A Theme

Both African music, the Blues and Jazz have deep spiritual and cultural roots.  African music often serves ceremonial, religious, and social functions within African communities, while the Blues and Jazz have been a vehicle for cultural expression and resistance in the African American experience.  This shared cultural heritage forms a strong bond between African rhythms and the Blues and Jazz Music.
